I have a very long
medical history, with many twists and turns, but for now, I'll quickly get to
the point:
These were my main uro-genital
symptoms that built up over time:
Loss of morning
erections / erectile dysfunction / loss of libido / fatigue / poor sensitivity
during sex / low ejaculate volume / less ejaculate shooting power / slight
stinging during ejaculation (sometimes) / urinary frequency / urinary hesitancy
/ testicle & prostate area soreness
I've been to tons of
doctors, all over the United States, I've done hormone therapy, had an
operation, and have been prescribed tons of medicines, vitamins, supplements
and so on. All with the hope of restoring my erectile function and general health. No
therapy gave me sustained relief.
Not a single doctor, nor
a single urologist, other than Dr. Georgiadis suggested that I might have
chronic prostatitis.
I now have been doing
prostatitis therapies with Dr. Georgiadis for nearly 2 months. I have been through a lot of ups
and downs during the process with respect to pain, side effects from the heavy
antibiotics, general fatigue, and symptoms both lessening as well as
intensifying, back and forth.
I am not done with my treatment, and I have not yet recovered.
However, there are a few noticeable improvements that I can report on:
-partial morning
erections returned after a few weeks of therapies.
-my daily testicle /
prostate soreness has largely disappeared. Once in a while, I'll feel it a
little.
-My urinary strength
appears to have improved. I no longer wait when having to urinate.
-I no longer feel like I
have to urinate again soon after urinating
-My most recent hormonal
lab results indicate that DHT (dihydrotestosterone) has come back to top of the
range.
I still have erectile
dysfunction and all my sexual dysfunction problems. And along with CP (Chronic
Prostatitis) therapies, I am also doing penile rehabilitation therapy which
consists of daily penis pumping, self-injections of a vasoactive drug into my
penis, and oral medications like Cialis for approximately 3 months. The goal is
to rejuvenate and exercise the penis which has suffered fibrosis. This fibrosis
was diagnosed via ultrasound by Dr. Georgiadis.
My case is complicated,
because I took finasteride (propecia/proscar) for many years and felt the
effects of the hormone-cutting drug within the first year or so of taking it.
This drug is given to patients with Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (to shrink the prostate),
as well as young guys for male pattern baldness. It is proven in research
studies to atrophy the penis, by cutting hormones (chiefly DHT) which support
penile tissue health. It also appears to compromise the immune system, as I
suffered a variety of health issues while on the drug…from stomach problems to
infections, to an overall sense of illness. As an endocrine-disrupting drug, it
also appears to have effects on the thyroid, and overall systemic balance. I
strongly urge anyone considering taking this drug (which now comes with a
warning for permanent sexual side effects on the label), to not take even one
pill.
Getting back to the CP treatments, the
significance of DHT returning cannot be understated. For years, I have not been able to get my DHT to
return without the use of hormone therapy. Now, at least at this point in time,
my overall hormonal picture looks much better, without the use of any drugs
(other than antibiotics). And my DHT is OVER range. This gives me great
optimism for a recovery.
To sum things up, I have
been going through the intense “finger pressure unblocking curative” treatments
and been taking heavy antibiotics for a long period. I am definitely exhausted,
tired, and anxious to sleep in my own bed again. And again, all my symptoms and
symptom relief fluctuate. I am hoping, that from the positive signs I have seen
thus far, that after my body and my prostate have some time to recover away
from the daily trauma of the prostate pressure and the antibiotics, that I will
see greater relief as the doctor expects. I do believe that we are targeting
logical areas based on my symptoms and history with finasteride: the prostate
and penile tissue. My hope is that I am clear of any infection once therapies
are over and that any improvements achieved during therapy are maintained, and
that improvement keeps coming. I will only likely post again once I have
significant news or recovery, but at this moment, I wanted to capture what it
is like in the midst of treatment. I hope this helps people out there. Good
luck to you, and God Bless.
